Start video system

A camera fixed at the start line records the line with an adjustable marker line drawn over the picture, and the recording is played back on a touch panel computer within seconds of the start. The starter judge can run the sequence forward or in reverse, in slow motion or frame by frame, and capture single frames, which is enough to stop the race and warn or disqualify a crew while the field is still near the start.

Recordings are kept on a hard drive, indexed by heat number and marked as a good or a false start; a continuous recorder mode covers the start line without heat divisions. The system works together with the automatic starting system and is also used to check gate alignment while that system is being installed. It is certified by FISA and ICF for rowing and canoe-kayak.
