Numbered lane marker box

The box stands behind the start of its lane and carries the lane number, so athletes, judges and the camera identify the lane before the race. It is made of varnished steel.

Inside it is a cabinet that holds the false start signal, which keeps the recall equipment of the lane in one enclosure at the start line instead of on the track surface.
