Steeplechase barrier
The steeplechase barrier is the fixed obstacle of the 3000 m and 2000 m steeplechase: unlike a hurdle it does not fall, and the athlete may step on it. The beam is laminated wood of 127 x 127 mm section painted in two colours in accordance with the rules, on a heavy base that keeps the barrier still when a group takes it together.
Height is set at 76 cm for the women’s event and 91 cm for the men’s, with a secured double tightening system, and integrated wheels let one person move the barrier on and off the track. The 4 m and 5 m barriers carry a World Athletics certificate; a mini barrier of 1.22 m is made for training.
