FLEX 2 solid wood sports floor on double joists

FLEX 2 carries a solid sports parquet on a double wooden joist system that rests on strips of elastic mat. The strips are what set the deflection: the impact is absorbed and the energy returned along the joist, while the ventilated cavity between the joists also moves heat when the hall is heated through the floor. A nylon vapour barrier protects the whole base beneath.

Because the wear layer is solid wood and not a veneer, the surface can be sanded back and re-lacquered several times, which is the argument for this build in a hall that will be in service for decades. Declared to EN 14904 with FIBA, CE and DoP documents.
