MISTRAL integrated wind gauge
MISTRAL combines the ultrasonic measuring head and the display in one unit: the reading appears on amber LED digits 250 mm high on the body of the gauge itself, inclined 15° towards the reader, so no second board and no cable run to it are needed at the trackside. The sensor head has no moving parts and is sensitive in every direction, so there is no mechanical inertia between a gust and the reading and no calibration drift over the life of the unit.
The column is adjustable in height and can be set to the 1.22 m above ground that the athletics regulations require. Measurement runs for 5, 10 or 13 seconds by a switch at the back, is started by the supplied pushbutton, and can also be commanded by a SCAN’O’VISION camera; an RS422 output passes the reading to the timing system or to further displays. The unit runs from the mains or from its internal battery.
