Competition telescopic high jump height gauge
The gauge is set beside the standards to check the actual height of the crossbar before an attempt is recorded. The reading is taken in a case at eye level rather than off the mast, which removes the parallax argument from a protest.
The high jump gauge covers 0.85 to 3 m; for pole vault the range runs to 8 m on the competition gauge with sliding light alloy elements. Aluminium periscopic gauges with a base, a level and a slider cursor are catalogued for both events.
